GTM Planning Template
A working template for deciding who a new product is for, why they should care and how adoption will happen.
Questions worth answering before you spend more money on marketing.
1. Launch objective
What must this launch achieve?
Are you validating demand, entering a segment, driving adoption or changing economics?
What is the primary success measure?
2. Priority audience
Who has the strongest reason to care now?
What event or situation triggers the need?
Who influences the decision, even if they do not sign the contract?
3. Positioning and message
What problem are you changing?
What is the new or better way of solving it?
What proof reduces perceived risk?
4. Distribution
Where does this audience already pay attention?
Which channels fit the buying journey?
What should happen before, during and after launch?
5. Adoption
What is the first meaningful value event?
Where are users likely to get stuck?
What should marketing, product and sales learn from early users?
